The Hidden Jem that is Winnipeg.

To all the fashionistas out there that think, why go to Winnipeg for a shopping trip? I can certainly answer that question for you. There are way too many hidden secrets in this town to pass it up.
Our downtown might not have the best reputation, but when it comes to shopping its the little independent stores in our Exchange District that can help you fill an afternoon with shopping. There are many but my absolute favorite has to be Ragpickers. With its vintage selection you can find anything from costumes for a theme party or a great dress from the eighties for the next wedding. It is basically a more stylish version of Value Village, making it especially appealing to any stylish woman. All you really need is time to go through the large amount of clothing as well as a good eye for fashion, which I doubt any of you are lacking.
Another great area is the Osbourne Village strip. Many independent clothing stores make Osbourne Ave. Winnipegs version of Young Street. Stores such as Paramix, Hush, Into the blue appeal to girls that are into the high fashion look, while stores such as Mixtape, Urban Wave and more are for the girls who are more into the rock inspired look.
Although we might have three major malls that seem to have no unique clothing stores, Winnipeg does have great fashion, you just need to look a little harder then in most towns to find them. So next time you want to go to Toronto or New York for a shopping extravaganza but can't afford the plane ticket and hotel think about spending a weekend in Winnipeg. You will not be disappointed.
